Château Grand Puy Lacoste, Pauillac

Château Grand Puy Lacoste, Pauillac

Grand Puy Lacoste is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc, dating back to the 16th Century. It is located west of the town of Pauillac and is owned and run by François-Xavier Borie, supported increasingly by his daughter Emeline. There are ninety hectares of vines in one block surrounding the beautiful 19th century château and they lie on deep gravel beds. As expected in Pauillac, the plantings are mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, with a little Merlot. The wines are always sensibly priced, within the context of Grand Cru Classé Pauillac, and the second wine, ‘Lacoste Borie’, is particularly good value and designed for earlier drinking.
